Living in Louisville

Louisville is one of those places that you feel very passionate about and at times get very angry about.
I can't speak to much about the school system as I have not put children through them. However, the private school system is very strong and there are many options. The Universities in the State offer some outstanding programs.
It is very easy to live in Louisville. Commute times can be very short, depending on where you live.
Very low crime rate, friendly people and plenty of family activities. Parks abound and a terriffic minor league baseball team and stadium, right on the riverfront. College athletics are great as well and you're centrally located to professional teams in Indy, Cincy, St. Louis and Nashiville.
Louisville is a city of neighborhoods offering a great range of homes and prices.
Louisville is also home to Fortune 500 companies like YUM! and Brown-Forman.
Louisville comes alive in the Spring and there is of course two weeks of festivities in advance of the Kentucky Derby. The Fall color is spectacular.
Louisville sufferes from slow moving political leaders who do not look out for the best interest of the citizenery. Air quality in Louisville is awful, the city has yet to enact a full smoking ban in restaurants and bars. The tax rate in the state is high and Louisville pretty much pays the way for the rest of the state.
Meaningful job growth is very low.
I've seen a large number of corporate executives relocate toLouisville, lose their jobs and choose not to leave. It can be very easy to live here. I guess that's a testament to Louisville.
