It Is What You Make It

I've survived thus far. Sure, Macon can be a little rough around the edges. It's kind of caught in the middle of Atlanta and Miami, so you can guess what goes on here. Cops are running short on manpower and we just set a record for murder this year. I live in a rural area of town, Jones Cty, with a Macon address. So it is possible to find a nice home at a great price and avoid the melee of the city. Jones Cty has great public schools and Macon has great private schools. Demographics are quite lopsided, but I don't feel there is racial tension - but then again, I'm white. The city is zoned oddly and as one end rises the other end falls. I've seen it twice in the 16 years I've lived here. Stay out of the high crime areas after hours and you'll be fine. The Air Force base provides a great opportunity for employment. All told, if I could leave, I would. But it looks like I'll have to wait to retire.
