Maplewood - a good compromise

We moved here because of its proximity to NYC and because many people told us the schools are good. We have been fairly happy with our daughter's school. It is difficult to get used to being dependent on the NJ Transit train schedules when we go to shows - the trains don't run that often and it's frustrating to wait around Penn Station for more than 30 minutes when the ride itself is only 35 minutes. Many people here are happy with the diversity and use that as a selling point. However I think this is a matter of perspective. Maplewood is a lot less ethnically and economically diverse than other places that we've lived. The closest Asian and Latino supermarkets are 20-25 minutes away. Other than that, we fairly happy here.
