If you have a choice in the matter, DO NOT MOVE TO

Growing up I lived in 8 different cities let alone the time I spend traveling for work and recreation, so I have plenty to compare. I moved to MN without a choice, have lived here for 9 years, and have hated it the entire time. I will absolutely leave the instant I have the opportunity. "Minnesota nice" is a myth. You will have a hard time getting to know neighbors because no one in this state can think outside of their own little selfish world. If you didn't go to, as they call it, "the U" (University of MN), then you are an outsider and not worth their time. If you don't go "up north" (like MN isn't far enough for you?) for long weekends and over the summer, then you haven't lived, according to them. To sum it up in one sentence, Minnesotans think the world ends at the MN state border.
