Being to new york dozens of times it gets very depressing. Everything costs sky above average here just as much as rent is. A pack of gum is usually 2-3 dollars. There is good diversity and culture here but the buildings are very dirty, clothes are very bad, and it's not worth the price. Honestly I would suggest moving out to California. The only thing that's really expensive is the housing. Everything else isn't that bad. Warm weather all year in most places, sunny all the time, nice people, and also a lot of diversity. New York is much better than Minnesota probably but if you wanna get the better deal move to Cali.

have CASH or move. Don't waste time bitching that the rents are high and so on. it's 4 K per month for an average place in Manhattan. NYC is solely for the very financially well off. sorry but that's it in a nut shell.

moving to ny for sun? that;ll be a 1st. it;s mad dark there because all the tall buildings block the sun. people in ny aint exactly known to be upbeat or happy. theres a reason for that.

No. The number one problem with New York City is you won't be able to afford ANYTHING. You will pay $2,000 a month for a shoebox. Also, winters are not that much better and even when it's sunny, you probably won't see the sun much anyway unless you live in Queens.
