Long Island is a very beautiful place to live, however the cost of living is just outragous. I've spoken to old college friends who are scattered throughout the country, we all have a similar level of income, however their lifestyle is much better because of the cost of living. Looking to start a family here? Think again, even during this housing bust, a starter home in a good neighborhood is still $300,000 for a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom. Not to mention we have the highest rates of leukemia and breast cancer in the country.
