Review of New York, New York

Litter
Star Rating - 5/25/2006
You can't go 10 feet without watching out for dog poo. Some streets are completely strewn with litter, no matter how often clean up crews come by or police drive by (in search of hard working citizens to give unwarranted tickets to- if you move here with a car, expect a ticket a month on average, with slightly more when you first get here).

Well, that's not true in my area of Norwood. There were a few weeks when I some kids along Brainbridge, so say people I ask, would strew litter when still out midnight. But, that stopped and the streets are as clean as one would expect in an area with a growing poplulation. People who lived in Manhattan are discovering and moving to Norwood with all of its trees, biking pathways and significantly lower cost of living. And, if I may, night time around Norwood is really quiet. If you want action, go to Manhattan. Norwood at night is about watching TV, reading a book, a chess game or surfing. There are 2 large shopping centers to the east and the north within 5 miles. And, you have the Van Cortlandt and Mosholu Park (each with golf courses) to the north, northeast and Woodlawn Cemetery which is worth a tour if you like hiking (its large!) along celebrity and historical mausoleums. As you can see, I like the area. You will love the biking.
