I've lived in Palatine, IL for 20 years. Living in a suburb of Chicago with great public transportation into downtown Chicago (via the train), we have access to a wide variety of employment, educational, cultural and sports opportunities. The people are wonderful and we have a diversified economy. The downsides are the winter weather (always snow, cold weather and ice) and the lack of much natural beauty (except of course for Lake Michigan). Chicago has a lot of character and is a really friendly "town", especially for such a large city.
