City of Brotherly Love my ass!
Star Rating - 4/8/2019
I spent the worst two years of my adult life here by far. It has a very antagonist flair where the people don’t need to have a reason to harass you or by nasty. I literally worked at six different places in that two year period.....every employer nit-picked over EVERY little thing. I began to have a nervous breakdown shortly before I decided to leave.

At my apartment complex, I was told by management that I was making obscene noises while I was running on the treadmill. WTF!

It have a heavy blue-collar edge to it unlike DC and NY. Maybe the people are so angry because they live in such a crappy city.

Despite its size, I also found it clannish. It was hard to blend in.

Philadelphia is truly one of the most saddest cities I ever lived. Everything you said here is absolutely true. This city is socially, emotionally, and mentally handicapped. Philly is a dumping ground for some of the most damaged people on the planet. I was born there, but knew at a very young age that as soon as I was old enough, I was going move. Which I did. City of Brotherly Love?!?!? That's one of the biggest lies in the world. It's a city that breeds segregation and hate. Nasty, nasty city.

Your comments is spot on pal. Although I have love for my hometown of Philly, it's very difficult to survive there economically unless you are a member of a fraternity or sorority. This applies more towards African-Americans such as myself. I have 100 reasons why I left but allow me to name a few. One, people here are very passive agressive especially in the suburbs; Philly has some low key racists (black and white); There's plenty of company men and women who kiss up to the bosses and will be very territorial when it comes to their emploer's supplies. Lastly, many Philly residents have never traveled anywhere outside the region. And they think Philadelphia is the center of the universe eventhough it's not.

I was born in Philly and take it as a lovely compliment when people are surprised by this. You have hit the nail on the head with your review. We are talking about a majority of people who actually pride themselves on being brash, aggressive, antagonistic, and rude, and yes nit-picky. This behavior extends far past the blue collar sector, where foul agression becomes insufferable arrogance. I'm glad you escaped.
