Review of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

tax cost uncertainty/suburban sprawl
Star Rating - 4/20/2006
All of Allegheny County PA (Pittsburgh region) has been besought with taxing uncertainty. We have had reassessments every two years that have been done by a firm in Ohio. My own home's assessment increased by 40% in 2005. Fortunately, the new County Executive, Dan Onorato rolled residetial numbers back to the 2002 numbers. Commercial property has not fared as well. It seems that new homes are being built in my North Hills community at a staggering pace despite rising interest rates and uncertain tax consequences. There are still affordable neighborhoods in the area, but this affluent suburb in a very good school district is not among them.
