I wish you were wrong but you're not. Other reply basically proves your point, it's a Hispanic dude basically saying "White people are bad" and "I'm mad so I'm gonna kick your ass" and of course that's what he would say. The Latinos(Puerto Ricans, Columbians, Dominicans, and Mexicans) who work the strawberry fields did NOT bring money to the area. Plant City was built off the back of the railroad built by Mr Plant himself, and the strawberries were here before the illegals were.
Regardless, as long as we restrict illegal immigration, in 2-3 generations they will all speak English and then hopefully they'll start being respectful to the people who actually built this town and their descendnents.
To the guy who wrote the reply, does it feel good to be racist against white people? Did it feel good typing that? Do you realize it's that crap that makes up not want you here? If you left right now, plenty of white boys would take over(strawberry festival and 4h is a good example of this), y'all are a replaceable cog in the machine. I would prefer if y'all would consider yourself as part of the city, rather than the segregated community that many of y'all are. You're a part of Plant City, take pride in your property, stop parking on your damn lawns lol. But yeah man, the only reason why OP has made a distinction between the white residents and the Hispanic residents is because y'all basically segregate yourself. It's like if 100 English speaking white people come to Mexico and refuse to speak Spanish their whole lives, it causes segregation and animosity with it. If y'all can go 30 years without having illegals come in, and all of your kids speak English primarily, then there won't really be much of a difference between whites and Hispanics. This is what happened with Cubans in Tampa, after a while they assimilated. They became American first, Cuban second, and thus they were brothers and sisters of the white people and the black people. I hope you understand what I'm saying,
Signed, a grandson of a Tampa Cuban immigrant.
