Plantation, Florida (South Florida)

Plantation is a very good place to live. It is away from the coast (approximately 5-10-miles West of the Atlantic Ocean) and offers good suburban living. The airport is convenient. The area offers much shopping and many restaurants at reasonable cost. Higher education is available in the area. Broward County votes Democratic in elections--the highest percentage in the state. Most people here are living in an area that many desire to retire to some day. Beaches and public golf courses are plentiful. Pro and college sports in the area offer entertainment as well as many cultural venues. Housing costs have been going up over the last several years making it a little tougher to buy for young couples. Schools in the area are good to excellent. Workers can commute to Miami, Palm Beach County or work in Broward County (where Plantation is located). There is always something to do such as craft shows, art shows, concerts, sporting events, etc., in the area. Weather in the Winter months is fabulous. It takes time to get used to South Florida's tropical summers. Hurricanes occur periodically, but South Floridians know how to prepare and are usually ready for them. It is an area of diversity which enhances the culture of South Florida. All in all a great place to live.
