I moved here from the east coast 20 years ago. The pace of life was slower back then, the area has grown out of control. No, I don't expect everything to come to a stand still once I move here but there is a happy medium.
Neighbors are not friendly at all. Unless you want to be in a click, gossip and stick your nose where it doesn't belong you won't fit. A lot of retirees with no hobbies.
Weather is lovely! Nice summers with warm nights and a passing storm and the other seasons are nice as well. We've only seen a few blizzards in 20 years, normally snow melts fairly quickly. I will say the winters have been brutal the past 2 years, not sure what that's all about but it's bone chilling cold.
Everyone at the stores, offices, etc are very nice. They go out of their way to help and remember your face if you are kind to them. Is it really too difficult for some to show some appreciation? Apparently so as I get thanked all the time for being kind to workers. That makes me sad. :(
If I call for service they always show up which is nice. There are come unscrupulous companies, so one needs to due their own research to not get taken for a ride. FYI, don't rely solely on the online reviews.
I've stayed here for reasons I would rather not get into but if it was up to me I'd have moved a long time ago. The main reason is the nasty neighbors. And it's not just my hood, I hear it from other people. Perhaps it's the retirees who need hobbies as the younger ones don't have time to meddle. I guess I long for the old days when people truly cared and helped one another. Not the nosy, facetious types of today.
Do I recommend moving here? Rent first and make your own decision is my advice. It's a beautiful area with lovely sunsets.
