People in reno esepecially on craiglsts like to rant how messed up reno is. to understand reno , you have to break it down.reno is not the biggest little city anymore it is the biggest litle sprawling city. icame to reno for the 24 hour bus sytem. in 12 years, i have not met anyone on the bus worth knowing- this is not nyc nor seattle but maybe in this gogle apple world, reno is actually better than on r thinks. when you think of america en toto , it is somehwat of a nightmare. so reno sudddenly loks pretty good. i f you are gay or lesbioann, expect to be disapointed-there is np gay/lesbioan community. if you are Jewish , expect to be nt eh abyss. the 3 synagoges en topto are pretty lame- . it is not there fault. Jews agglutinate to big cities. this is small big city or mid major like sioux falls, south dakota. reno is Artstown - a sloopy version of the sploette Festival in charleston. the heat is unbearable in summer and ironically reno shuts early so at 6 p.m. in the summer it is baking now at 9p.m. artstown is pretty god why do not they start it early because reno is an ealry bird city. It is not considered a friendly city- meaning unless yo umeet peole at work, expect to be out of the loop. People are decent in general butr there place is filled wioth lots of Yahoos. the University of Nevada is where the brainy peole are but as auniversity at best it is mediocre. positives for reno cheap grocery stores. the wind is horrible . the sun is great for melanoma and skin cancer- But you do not get fllods or really big disasters- you get safety and boringness- you also get convenience- for bicylcing fantics this is a good city to get hit. for married peole th is is an excellent city. for Hispanics, thi sis the El nort REno- this should be Hispanic city in 20 years the Kings Rance is Grand Central Station for the hispanc community- the medical comunity is ok - not ist rate not bad. the dental community is better. truckee Meadow Dental clinic is the top rated ental clinic in america. RTC, the bus system is proably the best smal bu ssytem in america. the Public library has deterioated because of budget cuts. In reno you are trading of, you arenot paying la or s.f prices but expect borongness and mundaneness. for reno attracts alot of yahoos. the professionals here are like professionals in other place they knowhow to navigat the key to reno is to get connected and thatis the rub. it is hard. it is a very lonely place but it not that idfferent from other places in the west. the major problem with puting reno down is what are the alternative except for expensive biggger cities - and the answer is not much-anyone who has specific questions about reno can contact me flashofagenius@att.net. I have met Jay and the Americans at Hot August Nights as wel as Tony Orlando- ther University of Nevada usually has a decent basketball team but they seems to be half empty at many gasmes. the casino culture stil dominates. unemployment is high. People just learn how to become borig in reno but there are peole who are involvedi nt he arts who are connected. so getting connected is crucial here- caughlin Parkway is the chic area of reno with greenery resembling seattle but the rest of the city is ugly in general por parks- even virgina Lake is a disapointment. but if you are couples, this is a good city to move to. It is proably somewhat like Spokane, wasdhington with casinos and a better bus sytem. RTC maybe the best small bus system in america and thus reno attracts non drivers although reno is car culture personified. if you are a bicylcist this is a good city to get hit. winters are better- not so sunny but if you canot handle sun, reno ihas radioactive sun-it is amile up- april may and June and spet october are the best times ofhte year to be here so many peole shuffle between here and other places. grocery stores are pretty good. in thi sinvisible apple gogle world reno is about par for the course- but contactm e - stipulate what you are seeking flashofagenius@att.net
