The "new" California

Reno, at its peak, was a quaint town with no bugs and some nice scenery. It also is close to some nice snow skiing and lakes. But even while I lived there in the late 80's and early 90's, the gambling scene was a real eyesore on the community. It brought in transients, homeless people, drug addicts, thieves, gangs and anyone who had no skills and wanted to work in the casinos. When California became too expensive for people to live there anymore, they flooded the Reno area. The only thing that changed, was now the town is overcrowded to the max. Californians brought their "no elbow room" culture to Reno, and it can not handle the overpopulation. The infrastructure wasn't made to support that many people. Now mountains are being mowed down to make room for more housing. Shotgun homes are being built. The traffic is a mess. Polution is a mess. And the worst part is that the influx of Californians has driven home prices through the roof!! Now people have to pay California prices to live by drug addicts and gangsters. And the casinos are so gross now. They used to be pretty decent. But they have no class anymore. It just draws the lowest life forms anymore and the slots are super tight. I wouldn't want to move back there. If prices of homes comes down significantly, there are some pockets of Reno that would be liveable, most towards Mt. Rose highway, but otherwise, the price definitely isn't worth it.
