Don't move here!

This place is a horrible place to live. It is ugly for starters! We relocated due to my husbands job two years ago. My husband loves the job, but we hate this place! We hate it so much that he is working feverishly to get another promotion, just so someone will pay for us to move out as quickly as we came! Reno is full of "down on your luck" people as a result of gambling, drinking, drugs, etc... Strange, transient people are all around you. Guard your children! I know people make a big deal about the weather... but, I think it stinks! The bitter cold lasts about 6-7 months out of the year. That doesn't count the 50-60 MPH gusts of wind that can hit anytime of the year! What good is the sunny days when you can't enjoy them because of the wind??? Then, just when you start to get some decent weather, the smoke from all the area fires surrounds you! There are some days you can't even go outside because you will breathe the smoke! BIG DEAL that there is no humidity... I have lived in humid areas and will take HUMIDITY over this crap any day! There is no class or culture in this area either. These people are totally fooled... some of them think "there is so much to do here!" After you live through one year in Reno, you've already gone to all the events the Reno offers. The SAME scheduled events are planned in Reno/Sparks year after year. Once you've accomplished getting through a year, everything falls under the category of "been there, done that." Yes - Lake Tahoe is beautiful, but there are only so many times you can go there without getting bored. So, if you want my advice, don't move here. If you do move here, please buy my house so I can get the heck out. Also, the "normal" cost of living and taxes are ridiculously high for such a crap area! I admitt the housing cost has gone down lately (not the taxes though!), but now the entire Reno homeownership market is "under-water" with their homes! So, now we are surrounded by short sales and foreclosures! Lord... please deliver me!
