Only for hermits. Richmond is great if you want to lock yourself indoors and work on that novel. It's a great place to focus. As other posters state the people here are unbelievably smug and ignorant. They go out of their way to cause every interaction to be ugly. Normal things like running errands, etc have a highlevel of stress here simply because of having to interact with others. I have lived all over the U.S. And Europe including New York/Jersey. Richmond is shockingly crass in comparison. If you have any level of sophistication, decency, or even common etiquette avoid human interaction in Richmond as much as possible. Unless you have a sick fascination with the crude machinations of human refuse. Flannery O'Connor would have loved it here.

You have no idea what you're talking about. I live in Richmond on E Main and 20th. The zip code is 23223 here as well as a portion of Henrico. But you're know-it-all but completely wrong attitude will blend seamlessly in Richmond. Cheers!
