Review of Sarasota, Florida

Great place to visit but didn't like living here.
Star Rating - 2/11/2022
As always, anyone considering moving to anyplace new, including Sarasota, needs to come down and spend a month or two before actually moving here. The city is overrun with wealthy snobbish retirees, the cost of living is very high, and the heat and heavy humidity linger year round. It is like living in a sweaty armpit for most of the year. The beaches are beautiful but access to them is horrible because you can never find a parking spot. Insects, rodents, and reptiles are your year-round roommates. Unless you can afford to live in an uber-wealthy neighborhood and/or send the kids to a private school, the school aren't all that great. Traffic and crowds everywhere. As I said, try it out first before moving down here.

Wow...have to disagree. Yes, there are more affluent people on average here but I've never found the people to be unfriendly at all. It's not uber rich like Naples or Palm Beach. There are younger families here (esp. Lakewood Ranch) and you are fairly close to Tampa if you want to get away for younger activities, music, sports etc.. Very safe and beautiful community. I've never found a problem parking at the beaches either though I prefer Lido Beach than Siesta because it is less crowded and more local people. Traffic is worse from December through April because of snowbirds but its not anything like Miami.

I can agree with a lot of this, but coming from Marianna, FL, how did you not know about the heat, humidity, insects, poor schooling, etc? It's pretty much the same. Um...all throughout this state.
