Review of Savannah, Georgia

CONSIDERING A MOVE FROM SE FL TO SAVANNAH

Currently live in SE FL, and looking for a new environment. Have spent some time in the Savannah area and found it friendly, charming and beautiful ... it's very high on our short-list.

The downside ... the housing is considerably more costly for a whole lot less. Of course, the FL real estate market is currently very depressed. Can anyone address this concern for me?

Would like your general comments, opinion or observation on Savannah living. Good, Bad, or Ugly. Love the downtown resturants, bars and antiquity. Also love the laid-back feeling,the water and marsh of the Islands.

So far, we like the idea of living in a condo on Wilmington Island, or in the downtown Victorian District. Any input would be greatfully appreciated.

Jerry, as a Realtor, I'd love to give you some input on housing cost in the Savannah area. I work for a new home builder, and most people are actually surprised at how well our prices compare with other areas, including FL. Downtown can get a bit pricey, but the Islands, and especially some of the suburbs (within 15 min. of downtown) are quite affordable.
