Quality of Life in seattle
Star Rating - 7/10/2013
Am looking to move next year away from Chicago. Been here 12 years now, and very unhappy with Chicago, and Illinois. Many reasons for this. HOwerver, I am looking for some good information about moving to Seattle and quality of life. I am in Information Technology and am thinking I will be able to find work reasonably easily. Also have added massage therapy to my resume. I am an avid runner, scuba diver, and bicyclist. Would like to be able to pursue these activities year round and enjoy living in a city for a change. Is the cost of renting an apartment or town home in Seattle that expensive?
thanks

Seattle is a great place to live and I think that Seattle and Portland is the nicest and beautiful city in the country. Yes Seattle does have a lot of very good jobs and high paying jobs. It's a lot of technology jobs and it's home of Boeing where airplanes and airliner are build. Yes it's can be expensive living in Seattle but there are areas and smaller towns around Seattle that are somewhat cheaper mostly east and north of Seattle but its worth the money living there because it's good life there. Tons of things to do there because of the beautiful great outdoor. Many bike and walking trails all over and around Seattle and you can go camping in the mountains east of Seattle and along the beach. The is three national parks in the state of Washington which is beautiful to visit. I would avoid living in downtown because it's expensive and a lot of traffic sometimes but it's nice area. Look at north and northeast and east of Seattle is not so much traffic and apartments are a little more reasonable but the small islands near downtown are the most expensive and you have to get on ferry. Yes you will enjoy Seattle and its not very cold like Chicago but its can be a little chilly sometimes in winter and sometimes it's snows there but not like in Chicago it's mostly light to moderate rain in winter. Nov,dec, jan and feb is the most rainiest month of the year but Seattle gets less rain than new York city and Chicago. Seattle gets about 30 to 35 inches a year. Spring summer and early fall is beautiful in Seattle in facts some summer can be sunny for two or three months and not see a cloud in the sky. There are some Sunny days in winter but it's more cloudy days. Portland is also a great city too it's less cloudy and less rainy but not that much and the cost of living in Portland is cheaper mostly in the smaller towns around Portland but overall Portland merto area is cheaper than Seattle if Seattle doesn't work out for you and it's a little warmer in Portland with less snow than Seattle. Quality of life in Seattle and Portland is a lot better than Chicago I think you will enjoy living in Seattle if you have some money and find a descent job there and you will find a job there easy if you are edcated and smart. I am moving to Portland soon or maybe closer to Seattle because I love the pacific northwest united state it's just beautiful there and nice folks there. Good luck moving to Seattle I hope you enjoy living in Seattle.
