Apparently dutch is the way here and anything else is picked on, and discriminated against in all ways. The first thing out of everyones mouth is "Im Dutch", "Im Swedish" Really, "Im American!!!!!!"
So dutch or Swedish whatever, welcome home. Anyone else, you may think twice before heading here.

I have lived in Sioux Falls for 40 years and I have never heard anyone tell me their Dutch or anything else. If you ask people will tell you but your statements are false.

Sometimes, I think people see a reflection of themselves in society, instead of what society really is. I've never heard these sayings either, 'first thing' or otherwise... and I moved to Sioux Falls 4 years ago.

This is simply not true. Just because they are proud of their heritage does not make it a bad place. Amazing....judging a place because people are proud of the heritage. I travel to SD and will retire there in a few years. I'm not Dutch....no one in SD cares.
