What are the lakes like in Sioux Falls??

I might be relocating to Sioux Falls from Orlando Florida. I hate it here, due to crime, and the humidity sucks LOL
There is a saying here. "Assume that there is an alligator in every body of water!". Needless to say we don't go in the lakes much here. Even the natural springs have them, and I'm not up much on being gator bait :)
I'm originally from Michigan and grew up going to the lake for every 4th of July and camping.
Are the lakes nice and clean and are there alot of woods by them?
