Living in Smithfield is like a dream come true. Little or no traffic, rarely any crime, lovely countryside, and a slow, Southern pace to life. Smithfield is not very large, but it is only 30-40 minutes away from a fairly large airport, major shopping, theatre and cultural events. Downtown Smithfield is full of quaint antique stores, various shops and a few charming restaurants. Those who live there would like to keep it all a secret...and never have things become the nightmare that they have in any number of cities in the Tidewater area.
