Review of Tucson, Arizona

It's all perspective.

So here's the thing about Tucson... Yes. It's Hot...but we don't run around outside when it's hot. We stay indoors. Like those where it snows..you aren't parading around outside when it's a blizzard, right?! It's sunny here. Great for your psyche. Hot. Yep. Sunny. Yep. Ok. Those are not bad things.
The upsides: Small town feel with larger town amenities.
College, AF and Technology run this area for jobs.
We are 45 minutes from Mexico (think prescriptions, tequila, etc)
We DO have freeways...ok, two... sorta... (one is an "expressway") -
but then again, our population is low, and you can drive surface
streets in rush hour traffic, corner to corner of the city in 45
45 minutes during rush hour. so that ain't bad.
People are health conscious, water conservative and resourceful.

We have mountains within 45 minutes to ski on. We have lakes at a stones through, fishing included. Lot's of hiking trails and wildlife.
Big industries here lately: DM Air Force Base, Ft. Huachuca Army Base, University of Arizona, Honeywell, Geico and Amazon.
The downside: We are a "community" minded locale. We support local, but we want "big". but we can't decide what we want to be when we "grow up".... We want BIG BUSINESSES to recognize us as a destination( GEICO and AMAZON recently), but there are many whom don't want to grow.

The cost of living is low. Affordable. Education needs a boost.

There are a lot more downsides than you listed, trust me. 1. No light rail (where would it go anyway??) 2. Lackluster public transpo (yes, even compared to Phoenix) 3. Downtown Tucson be sketchy af and doesnt really have room to expand tbh. 4. Travelling hella distances because no freeways.... 5. Poor pothole maintenance even in what could be considered Tucson Proper. Just look at the strip from 22nd st and Alvernon to Valencia and you get my drift. Theres even roads off Broadway nearing university that are pretty bad. And that's like half the total downsides from my POV. If staying inside all day is a plus, you can do that in Phoenix too. Nothing that hip about it... You need a good computer, tv and more to do that right. It's just all-around impossible to find anything to do in Tucson besides malls and libraries...;)
