Review of Tucson, Arizona

Tucson Climate
Star Rating - 7/10/2007
I moved to Tucson 18 months ago and I am ready to move out! My nose bled regularly from the dryness of the desert air. I am from the Caribbean, so coming from a humid climate, with regular rain, beaches, 70's to 80's F all year, etc, Tucson was a stretch. The city is spread out and is simply not a very unattractive place, aesthetically speaking. The people are very friendly but there is not much to do in terms of entertainment. There is the usual movie theatre and mall, but the general atmosphere is very laid back. If you like this, and don't mind 110 degrees F in summer, Then Tucson is for you...good luck.

We are ex-New Yorkers who have been here 8 yrs and now can't imagine living anywhere else. Entertainment? Tucson Symphony Orchestra is world class, the Arizona Opera company is very good, there are many local professional live theater venues. Google "UA Presents" to see its many, many varied offerings. There are many adult educational opporunities. Many fine museums and art galleries. In fact, there aren't enough hours to do and see all we want to. Oh, and Sabino Canyon and the other national parks offer wonderful hiking trials for all skill levels, even casual walkers. Sking is available 25 miles away if one is so motivated. And even the hot summers are okay.... that's the time to see movies in air conditioned comfort, cause it cools off in the evenings. And it sure beats shoveling snow!
