Tucson: Lack of Progressive Public Transit

-
5/11/2008
Tucson has many wonderful things about it: the gorgeous desert colors and desert sunsets are unparalled. Plenty of sunshine. No humidity. Mountains galore. As far as its natural habitat, Tucson is alluring.
However, when it comes to urbanism Tucson flails. There has been a complete lack of planned infrastructure when it comes to public transit. For decades, ideas to build a light rail have been scrubbed. The SunTran buses are constantly 15-20 minutes late, while people are waiting out in the sun. The roads are in spotty condition. There are numerous bike paths, but people are afraid to use them because of the prolific SUV drivers.
It is because of these reasons, that I am choosing not to stay in Tucson.
