Agreed. It's a rinky dink town. I graduated from U of A decades ago, and just moved back 5 years ago. I like quirky and unusual, but Tucson has totally changed for the worse. High crime, midday murders in midtown and near U of A campus, crazy drivers (cops won't even come to accident sites anymore unless there's an injury), car accidents any time I drive across town, people gunning red lights, pedestrian and motorcycle deaths every day on the news, high crime and violent crime (amongst highest in US), massive homelessness (sad everywhere these days), AWFUL medical care, low quality education - "Tucson Dumb" is actually a thing (look it up), abundance of rude and angry people, pervasive laziness, a "machismo in the old west" vibe, horrible mismanagement of forest fires, people shooting guns near Gate's Pass and Star Pass where it's illegal and dangerous for hikers. I've lived in many countries - 3rd world and other - and have had better medical care in all of them than Tucson. Tucson is like a 3rd world country loaded with strip malls and high prices. The desert is beautiful, the skies are clear and starry, U of A campus is beautiful, but unfortunately nothing is beautiful enough to make Tucson worthwhile. I feel sad writing these words, as I used to absolutely love Tucson...
