Review of Tucson, Arizona

Why I had to leave...
Star Rating - 8/6/2006
Would probably be more useful than nitpicking all the details. It's the (lack of) high tech economy for those who are not in the missle-making business. I even had a professional recruiter tell me bluntly my best bet was to go to Phoenix. But I wanted to stay and see so I struggled for 3 years with the lack of career progress getting more and more excruciating. In the end I took a position back east paying twice what I was scraping by on in Tucson and the housing costs are half what it costs to live crunched up next to the freeway in the desert. It has great potential to be a beautiful life, but I think the economically challenged half is losing ground here--engineers and cocktail waitresses alike.
