Life on the Island of Venice

I live just a short walk from the gulf of Mexico, in a neighborhood where neighbors talk to one another. We have a nice downtown (also a short walk) with restaurants with street side seating. This is not a modern development where all the homes look alike, nor a place where the residents live in Mac-Mansions. Here you'll find a mix of architecture, tree lined streets, and a feeling of security that comes with nearly non-existent crime. It's a small town, with a small town charm. There are miles of underutilized beaches.
This is a place where you come to enjoy the little things, holiday parades, walks on the beach, walking your dog, or taking a bike to pick up things at the grocery. Egrets standing at your front door, flocks of Ibis working through a yard looking for morsels.
I live in a place that doesn't need changing.
