Nice, but not cheap.

Vienna, VA is a nice community and town, but it ain't cheap. As we have started looking for places to retire, I have found out that the property taxes we pay here are much higher than most places (easily twice as much, if not more). In Vienna, you pay your property taxes to the county and to the town. The town property taxes are about 15 to 20 percent of the county property taxes.
Gas prices are higher in this area. If you get out of the metro area you can save about 20 or 30 cents per gallon, but that is not very convenient. Food prices (dining out and groceries) are higher too.
The housing has gotten very expensive. We were lucky to move into Vienna when we did. I don't think we could or would want to now. For a very nice, new, four bedroom, single family home you are looking at about $1,000,000 to about $1,200,000. It is crazy! You can find homes for less, but they are much smaller or older.
But the town is nice and the neighborhoods are wonderful. So if have to live in the northern Virginia area, Vienna is hard to beat, if you have the cash.
