Cost of living too high for median income below 60

Imake 60K and can barely afford to live - still week to week. Housing market is twice what a house is really worth and rents are insane @ over 1000.00 per month for a mediocre 2 bedroom apartment. Traffic is like DC -gridlock and not enough lanes.
