The prices for houses to buy is ridiculous. If you actually have the money to afford houses around here good for you but most decent houses are going to run you over $300k. If you are renting you are looking at paying at least $1200 and that is a minimum two bedroom in a decent neighborhood. One good things I can say about this area you are in the middle of great things to do. You can easily go to the beach, back bay waters, mountains, camping, D.C area, Eastern Shore, White Water Rafting, Philly, or Even New York. Its a great area if you like to get out and do things. Yes, there is alot of military but if you move here, you knew that before you moved here and there is alot of historic sites you can always visit. I have enjoyed my stay here. Good luck
