Review of Voorhees Township (Camden County), New Jersey

Housing
Star Rating - 9/8/2009
Compared to the rest of the United States, the housing is faurly expenseive. The worst though is the tax structure. Voorhees has one of the highest rates in the nation for local property taxes.

Township continuously manipulate assessment of the houses. It also appears that they assess higher values for properties owned by minorities. Because of the 15% rule they assess 10-15% higher values to nonwhites forcing nonwhites out of the township. "Great school" is a myth. It is at best mediocre. It should be noted that students from cheaper townships like Gibbsboro, Berlin also attend Voorhees high school which is a regional school run by the county and not township. Overall the township created a Toxic tax atmosphere in order to pay themselves very high salaries and it has to increase every year so that they can get raises.
