I've had a lake house nearby for nearly 20 years. It's a quiet, nice place to live for much of the year when full seasons are available. Lush greenery and moderate prices combine with plenty of outdoor activities: Golf, fishing, nationally acclaimed biking and snowmobile trails, hunting, boating, beautiful wildlife! The downfall includes typically longer and sometimes brutal winters and cooler temperatures. Very few upscale restaurants or shopping. Many businesses close during some point in the winter for a month or so. Townsfolk are generally friendly but getting major projects done happens on "up north" time....
