Review of Santa Rosa, Florida

Better Than Most
Star Rating - 3/2/2020
First of all, yes...I'm biased.

This area (including Pensacola in neighboring Escambia County) has been good to me and although I have the standard, casual complaints about the sprawl, traffic, etc., you always have to weigh the good vs the bad anywhere. Santa Rosa county skews mostly good.

I own a rental property I paid $123k cash for in 2013. Now worth close to 190k with the same tenant paying $1300/mo since 2016. I have my eye on more income properties as this is definitely a transient area due to military presence.

Can't do much about the traffic but I've also lived in NYC, Philadelphia, Houston and others, so this is tolerable.

For major (adult) fun, New Orleans is only 3 hours away but plenty to do in Pensacola as well. Kind of a Bohemian feel to the place....

Local job-wise, I admit I'm oblivious. I work for a Florida based utility company (largest producer of renewable energy [wind, solar] in the world) and while I do work quite a bit in Florida, I also work on other projects scattered around the USA. Ergo, I do not have a good 'feel' for local gigs. A quick punch up of indeed or other websites seems to show quite a bit of jobs available, however...

In summary, you could do worse. Maybe better but it depends on what is important to you.
