Review of Philomath, Oregon

The economy
Star Rating - 5/3/2008
I have no idea where you are getting you information. If it is from the city offices it is totally wrong. Since the city council decided to build a road through the town (couplet) the economy has gone to hell in a hand basket. when the road was being built most businesses where running at 75% or less than normal. When it was finished we lost three businesses all in one week. Since then three are barely holding on and two are on the way out.
You mentioned 27% increase in jobs/economy in the next several years. That will only happen if the city gets rid of the concrete barring left turns to businesses and goes out of their way to help businesses instead of trying to kill them. Also, a lot of that % is because people work in Corvallis. And now that HP is moving most of it's plant to Houston, TX that will make a decidely marked drop in the 27%...which is truly a pipe dream in some one's pipe.

The economy will not recover for another 10 years even if it has a chance....and the city council is group that does not want it to recover....
The only way to fix this town is to get rid of the people that do not believe in small business.
