Review of Aurora, Ohio

A Great Place to Raise a Family
Star Rating - 7/12/2006
Aurora is a suburb of Cleveland. It has good schools and is about a 35 to 40 minute commute to downtown Cleveland. Cleveland is blessed with the Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Museum of Art, other fine museums, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Playhouse Square which has beautifully restored theatres featuring musicals, live theatre and many other attractions. Cleveland is home to the Browns, the Indians and the Cavaliers.
The area has an excellent park system. If boating or fishing are your interests, there is Lake Erie. The area also has several universities, such as Case-Western Reserve, John Carroll, Baldwin Wallace and Cleveland State.

Why is it that every person I have encountered from the Cleveland area sounds like a convention & visitors center commercial? Let's face it, Cleveland is a waste-land. The mass exodus from the city The population has decreased by 50% since 1950) to the suburbs says it all. I grew up in Shaker Heights and attended the public schools there. The Browns are a joke, the economy is a mess and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is essentially an overpriced Hard Rock Cafe (minus the booze). Maybe you drank the kool-aid and are willing to tow the line but Cleveland is truly a mistake by the lake. That is probably why you don't live there. Aurora is a tremendous community. The same cannot be said for Cleveland.
