Review of Grafton, Wisconsin

Great Place to Live
Star Rating - 3/11/2010
With recent national rankings of Ozaukee County as being the second best place to raise a family in the America and being the healthiest county in Wisconsin, you soon get a sense of what Grafton (located in Ozaukee County)is all about. The community's two school districts (Grafton and Cedarburg) are also nationally ranked.

The community (11,770 population) has been able to retain its small town lifestyle with all the advantages of being in a metropolitan area. Grafton is located 20 miles north of Milwaukee on Interstate 43 and is an easy commute to employment areas.

Located along the Milwaukee River, the community was settled in 1838. In addition to the community's successfully revitalization of its historic downtown, it has also created a regional retail hub at an interstate interchange. In October 2010, Aurora Health Care will open a $200 million medical center.

Over the past 10 years, the community has often been the focus of national attention due to a Paramount Records' recording studio being used in the 1920-1930s by such Blues artists as Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Blake, Papa Charlie Jackson, Ida Cox, and Ma Rainey.
