Why I love living in Rolla
Star Rating - 3/26/2008
I am a Southern California native, lived there for 35 years, then moved to MN for 7 years and then to MO, first in Salem and now in Rolla. One of the main reasons I left Ca was because of the crime and the over population. I had a daughter and was fearful to send her to school. MN was a nice state, but too cold, Salem lacked job opportunities but Rolla has been a nice fit for our family. The people are friendly, but your attitude counts towards that. I agree there could be more industry because jobs could be better, but Rolla is like living in CA when I was a kid. You don't really worry too much about your kids, they can ride their bike or visit their friends. Yes, drugs are here, they're everywhere, I grew up in the 60's and 70's before we knew that much about it's dangers. Rolla is a smaLl rural community where people know your name and your family. If you're a troublemaker, then they know that too. I like knowing my banks employees and the school admins. I feel like we matter here and we don't get lost in the vastness.

If Rolla is like California was when you were a kid, think what a mess Missouri will be in 50 years from now. My grandkids will be the age I am now; their lives will be miserable in Missouri, thanks to the number of imports and interlopers coming in here.
