Review of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

Nice Friendly Place
Star Rating - 5/20/2008
Broken Arrow is a nice place to live. With 88,000 people it still holds a small town atmosphere. It's affordable (although the state tax is high - 8.5%) and has excellent schools. It's sits right between one of the best Community Colleges in the country, and Northeastern State Univeristy. Both are around 10 minutes away. It's also 10 minutes from Tulsa, which supports lots of shopping, restaurants, recreation and culture. Broken Arrow is in the process of building its own Performing Arts Center and YMCA. Shopping is limited but growing. I moved here from Tulsa 15 years ago and I love it! It's also just 30 minutes away from the Ft. Gibson lake which has state parks, rv parks, fishing, boating, etc.

Its 2019 now and Broken has a Performing Arts Center. We have exploded in growth since Bass Pro opened a store here. Many hotels and restaurants have opened near there including much retail including: Target, PetSmart, Famous Footwear, Bath & Body, Rick's Sporting Goods, Marshall's, Lowes, and much more in the North quadrant of town. Several restaurants have opened here due to Bass Pro coming to town: Charlestons (steak house), Oklahoma Joe's BBQ, Cotton Patch home cooking, Los Cabos Mexican and others, plus all the typical fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Arby's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Taco Bueno, etc.... It has many churches, parks, recreation areas. Its southeast of Tulsa. Bass Pro chose BA over Tulsa. Its a great city to raise your children in what seems like a smaller community than it is. Very friendly. The downtown has been completely redone. It's called The Rose District with modern shops and restaurants including one with rooftop seating serving wine and other beverages. Its about 20 minutes to The Gathering Place, voted America's top new park alongside the Arkansas River. The Tulsa Zoo is with 30 minutes. A few years back it was voted America's favorite zoo. ORU is located in Tulsa along with the University of Tulsa (private), University of Oklahoma - Tulsa, Oklahoma State University - Tulsa and Tulsa Community College offering free tuition the first year based on high school grades. Tons of shopping in both BA and Tulsa. Its located in the Northeast corner of the State of OKlahoma - 40 minutes from 3 beautiful lakes for fishing, boating , swimming , camping, cabins, restaurants and other outdoor activities.
