Review of Flagstaff, Arizona

Paradise if you can afford it
Star Rating - 1/27/2022
I've been in Flagstaff for 2 years, and something that really stands out is how lax and friendly everyone is. No one is trying to be something they're not, and very few people seem to take themselves too seriously. A good example would be how people let you pass first at intersections or how people actually wave and say hello.

This alludes to its very high quality of life, which is certainly obfuscated by the crime rate (a byproduct of having such a small population). The air is also clean, the trees remind you that there's more to life than whatever it may be that you're stressing about, and the four seasons are so distinct and beautiful here. In my eyes, it's the best place to find oneself.

That said, a lot of people complain about the cost of living. As a reference point, I live in a 2br/2ba, and the rent is increasing to nearly $1900/month. This has resulted in a housing crisis, in which some people live in RVs/trailers/vans because even manufactured houses are too expensive. The healthcare, that being said, is top-notch; you can see the Milky Way early in the morning; and there's a true sense of community. I haven't found this in any other city I've lived in.
