California takes over once again
Star Rating - 11/24/2015
A feature of life on Maui Island for at least the past 12 years I've lived here; keep in mind that many longer timers than I lament even more the same things lost. Is that easygoingness of times past. I believe that the influx of people used to the hustle and bustle, that kind of exactingly quantitative and self involved demeanor of a certain Southern Californian consciousness has redefined much of Maui 's north shore from Paia town on Back to Huelo. Heck, even to Keanai and Hana town, stopping before Kipahulu because one must possess real money to own back there and its all taken.
Mana Foods used to be deliberately accessible to all by its owners and the spirit of the town, its all gently been gentrifying in spite of having no space to do so. Vacation rentals, the bane of renters in the average rate affordability bracket on island, taking hold once again rendering it impossible to find average prices much less afford whats left. Jobs are minimal to nil here. If one works online this is a dream otherwise construction related jobs the market.
Ive been trained as a sustainability professional which this placve is ground zero for, but still I'm looking to move away due to the educational depravity here, my son has hit Maui's ceiling and would like to be much more challenged. I too am bored, Im divorced amicably but need more out of life for myself than surfing and attitudes transplanted from other beach towns or coastal cities with no real grasp of whats important. The best place in the U.S I've ever lived was Boulder Colorado, ironically the locals there blamed California for why it got too expensive by 2003.
