Review of Putnam, Connecticut

A waning culture seeking revitalization
Star Rating - 3/5/2012
Not very long ago (4 - 5 years), Putnam was a tremendously viable destination for antiques. Two of every three stores in Putnam's town center were dedicated to the antiques trade. I could name several contributing factors to the decline of this market, but what's more important is revitalization.
Still, one of New England's largest group-type antiques shops ("Antiques Marketplace" - medium to high-end quality), with over 200 dealers remains, while most others have succumbed to the times. Life's a struggle, but the struggle is a happy one.
Just around the corner from this wonderful "shop" is located a regional theater ("The Bradley Theater") with nightly stage performances which are chock full of talent! Diversified shows have included the likes of "Oliver! The Musical" and "Twelve Angry Men" to some most intriguing original productions.
Putnam's town center will also provide you with several restaurants of fine cuisine to just plain "down-home cookin'"!
Sooooo...Fulfil your search for that elusive antique, enjoy fine dining inside or out, then sit comfortably and enjoy your favorite show within a theater which accommodates over 350 patrons of the arts!
Spirited Putnam is forging ahead, and you very simply cannot miss with this one!!!
