Review of Hillsborough township, New Jersey

Hillsborough Quality of Life
Star Rating - 9/20/2009
Hillsborough is close enough to major metropolitan areas of NYC and Philly, and has a wealth of excellent restaurants and cultural activities within a ten-mile radius. Yet the town is also spread out, with 54 square miles of space, and diverse with housing ranging from apartments and condos to farms and McMansions. The YMCA has a great pool, the high school is large and well kept up, and the community spirit is strong. For example, years ago volunteers from the town built a giant playground which my sons both loved. The local sports and recreation programs are great for kids, too. The traffic can be annoying and pace of life sometimes too fast for my taste, with impatient drivers unfortunately common. I'd like a more typical "downtown", too, rather than the series of strip malls along the main corridor of US 206 that passes for our downtown. Overall, however, having lived here more than 25 years, I would say this is a good place to live.
