I have lived in the Kingsport area my entire life. We have just the right mix of business and leisure. We have all of the shopping one would need along with wonderful parks, rivers, and mountain scenery. We can visit over half of the U.S. population within a day's drive, but our traffic is low. There is never a shortage of weekend trip destinations. We have great local medical providers while UT, Vanderbilt, Duke, etc., are just a few hours away. You will not find a more "neighborly," welcoming community than Kingsport!

My husband and I are both on the cusp of retirement and looking for a quite safe area to move to. I have looked up the crime rate in Kingsport and find the crime rate there a bit higher than I would like. We need to be near medical services since we don't plan to ever move again but don't mind a drive that is 30 min. Any city has its good and bad areas. Thus my question. Where would you recommend? Also where would you AVOID??

My husband and I have been retired for a number of years and we have decided that we must get out of California - the liberals are driving us crazy, to say the least, and we would like to spend our twilight years in a state or town that appreciates "back to basics" so to speak. My roots run deep in Kingsport as my grandfather was born there as were Aunts and Uncles (Bridwell). Now checking out Kingsport. Prayers, please!

My husband and I have been retired for a number of years and want to leave California (liberals are driving us crazy and we would both like to live in a place that appreciates "back to basics" so to speak).
