its a good small university town, however the cost of living varies especially rents on whether you live near to the campus or far away from wvu. there are only couple major employers. its well populated for the size of the town though and the cost is comparable to big towns like pittsburgh.

There are several major employers in the area. The University, of course, is a major one as is healthcare with more than 8,000 local employees, pharmaceuticals, research organizations such as NIOSH and Protea, and there are thousands of Federal jobs in our area at the Department of Agriculture, Federal Bureau of Prisons, NASA in Fairmont, and the FBI and Veterans Administration in Clarksburg. With an unemployment rate that is among the nation's lowest, nearly everyone has a job here.
