Review of Verde Village, Arizona

I have lived here for 10 years now. The main thing that is wrong with Cottonwood / Camp Verde and the surrounding towns is that the growth is stunted. They blame it on the recession but the truth is that most of Arizona hasn't woken up to the fact that people from all over the country are now coming there to live. The businesses here will say they close at 10pm but decide on a whim to close at 9pm just as if it were still 1970 and it was still a small town filled with people born and raised there. No. Just no. The Arizonans are a strange breed, they don't know their own historical landmarks, they are very conservative, no unions, very satisfied with the smallest amount of entertainment/culture (one or two bars, a wine bar, good beers and one museum is enough for most towns), and they do NOT want to change. It does not matter that Cottonwood has grown over 90% since 2000. It does not matter that parents are in an uproar because there is NOTHING to do to keep their kids from falling down the hole of drug use all because there is nothing at all to do. They do not care and it does not seem they are going to.
Be very careful moving here.
It is the same every single day.
