Review of Catonsville, Maryland

Music City, Marlyand
Star Rating - 7/13/2006
Catonsville is a pleasant little community on the outskirts of Baltimore. It is known as Music City, Maryland, though no one can tell me exactly why - I suspect it is because downtown Catonsville has more music stores than it would seem the area could support.

Music City was a marketing slogan developed about 10 years ago and, basically, has no meaning except that, there are some music stores on Frederick Road. I wish the Chamber of Commerce, the County, and others would drop it and use something more appropriate for all of Catonsville and its interesting history ("The Fourth of July City" or "A Place We Call Home" for its long history as one of the original suburbs in the U.S.). BTW: Catonsville is not an actual town or city. There is no mayor. The local government is the county. This is true for most towns and cities in Maryland.
