Nice quiet place to live

Two negative things about Maquoketa: 1. midwest climate; high humidity in the summer, harsh winters. 2. druggies. they tend to accumulate here, and in turn there is a higher property crime rate. not much violent crime. Positives: 1. VERY low cost of living. My co-worker just purchased a move-in ready, two story, large house in town for $26,000. Try finding that most anywhere else in the country. 2. Nice people. everyone says hello, waves, and helps one another. 3. Decent work available. It's a big farming community, so either you're a farmer, or are related to one. If you don't farm, there's a few bigger factories here, or you can commute 40 minutes to Dubuque or the Quad Cities. 4. For a small town, there's quite a few activities available locally, or like I said, the bigger cities are just a short drive. Lots of good things about it, but the weather is awful most of the time. That's the reason I only give it 3 stars. take that out of the equation, it would be a high 4.
