Review of Elizabeth Illin,

A Charming City with a Rich History
Star Rating - 8/12/2013
Elizabeth is located way in the northwest corner of Illinois in a picturesque setting of rolling hills and farms. She owes her name to the three women named Elizabeth who bravely fought at the Apple River Fort in a battle with Black Sparrow Hawk and his warriors in June of 1832. A young Abraham Lincoln also served in the Army here during that time. A replica of the fort stands beside the original site and is host to living history and re-enactments. The fort is also host to stargazing presented by the Planetary Studies Foundation which also operates the 1876 Banwarth House and Museum. Elizabeth is host to a variety of events throughout the year including its Spring Fling, summer fair, and fall scarecrow contest. The local people are very friendly and Elizabeth can boast seven excellent restaurants.
